It has taken a little time for me to post this game. It was one of our best games and an emotional one for us.
Game wise, we stayed toe to toe with a tournament bound team. Tom Lombardo had one of his best games in goal with some very important saves. The rest of the defense: Stephen Stephansky, Alex Clemens, Dan Gould, and Nate Almeida, worked equally as hard in blocking many Marshfield opportunities. Our midfielders: Will Roache, Alex Miner, Antonio Centeio, Mike Szczesny, Jon Emery, Dan Bonitatibus, Jake Winnett, Jeff Govoni, and Ryan Kelly, stepped up their game which help defensively and offensively. Our forwards: Alex Nicoletta, Connor Ross, and Jason Malloy, provided us with some exciting opportunities. Also to Mike Auld for his support from the bench after his injury in our last game and Lukas Beiten who is also out with an injury. A battle to the end, this is what this team has given time after time. Although the final result doesn't show it, this was one of our strongest team efforts. Thank you for making our senior parent night exciting to watch, we are proud of all of you.
It is also with sadness that the seniors (bold & underlined above) journey in our soccer program has come to an end. The final walk down the path together, the pregame meeting, one final half time gathering, and the final whistle to end it all. It has come to an end all too soon for us. I hope we remember the friendships, preseason, working together for a common goal, lifting each other up when we were down, celebrating the victories together, team dinners, monster mini golf, and knowing that we left it all on the field. Finishing the season with a tailgate party is a new tradition that I hope will last for ever. You have been Panthers for the past 4 years and although you are moving on, you will continue to be a Panther for the rest of your life. We will miss all of you.
The Soccer Banquet will be in January. I will post it as soon as a decision has been made.
Thank you players, parents, friends, and supporters of our program.
Sincerely,
Coach Barrington
