Freshman Boys Update 10/08/11

The Freshmen boys played a great soccer match today. A great performance by every member of this team lead to a victory that was well deserved. It has been a very tough week with this being the 4th game of the week. Today we battled through injuries and played with a whole bunch of heart. The boys felt like they SHOULD WIN today and they came out and showed it. At halftime the game was even 0-0 and it was a pretty even game. The second half however was a different story. At half time we talked about communication and how important it was and in the second half the communication improved a lot. Our possession game was flawless today and it was great to see everyone on the same page moving the ball around with confidence.

Garrett McSweeney scored the go-ahead goal with about 17 minutes left in the game. The goal came from a great free kick taken by Nate Almeida who put in a great effort today despite hurting his shin early in the game. Andrew Sylvia and Jack Bannon combined for a shutout and both put in a great effort in net. The defense was once again very solid, anchored by Mike Pizzi. Our midfield played great with the forwards and everything is really starting to come together as a team. Enjoy you’re the rest of your weekend. We will see you all on Monday at 4:00pm for practice.
